Through the American Statistical Association’s chapter visitation program, the Central Arkansas Chapter welcomed President-Elect Ji-Hyun Lee on October 29, 2024. It was an opportunity for chapter members to engage with Lee, who shared her experiences and knowledge. Lee also reached out to a broader audience at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and emphasized the sometimes invisible but fundamental role biostatisticians and data scientists play in the advancement of science.
During her visit, Lee said, “It is important that you attend lab meetings with your collaborators; you will learn a lot.” She mentioned it’s also a natural way for biostatisticians and data scientists to engage and make clear their role in a project’s success. Lee also made suggestions to CASA members about how to communicate more effectively and interact with interdisciplinary teams and how to leverage resources already available at the ASA for professional development
