The Caucus for Women in Statistics and Data Science will host the fourth annual International Day of Women in Statistics and Data Science on October 14 to celebrate female statisticians and data scientists around the world.
The aims of the virtual conference continue to be the following:
- Showcasing women and their contributions to the fields
- Connecting female statisticians and data scientists around the world
- Encouraging collaborations among statistical societies around the world
- Prompting statistics and data science to become more inclusive and diverse
- Bridging the fields of statistics and data science
The theme this year is Thriving in Your Environment, which acknowledges that students and professionals throughout the world face various challenges. The conference will feature keynote speakers and sessions that explore ideas of environment,” including location, sector, area of application, and career phase. The idea of thriving will also be investigated.

- Bonnie Ghosh-Dastidar, RAND Corporation
- Amanda Golbeck, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
- Ché Smith, Netflix
Women are often minorities in statistics and data science. This conference highlights the pressing need for more opportunities, mentorship, and recognition. The keynote speakers will focus on their career journeys, leadership, and the role of mentorship in their professional lives.
