The 2026 Symposium on Data Science and Statistics will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from April 28 to May 1. Milwaukee offers a vibrant setting, with its cultural scene, culinary traditions, and iconic attractions.
SDSS brings together statisticians, data scientists, social scientists, computer scientists, engineers, lawyers, and more to learn from and forge collaborations with each other. The power of these collaborations is their potential to advance knowledge across fields, driving breakthroughs across various interests and applications.
The SDSS program has sessions for all levels—beginner, mid-level, and expert—and interests organized into the following four tracks:
- Data Science Applications
- Education & Professional Development
- Systems and Infrastructure for Applied Data Science
- AI and LLM Applications
The program committee is soliciting short course proposals and presentation abstracts that highlight case studies and novel contributions to business and societal impact from machine learning and AI, computational statistics, and statistical methodology with applications in industry, government, and academia. Short course proposals can be emailed to Edward Mirielli and Praveen Sanka. Refereed presentation submissions will be accepted from October 15 to November 20 via the SDSS 2026 website.
SDSS will offer networking and career growth opportunities for students and early- and mid-career professionals. These opportunities include group mentoring, organized lunches (for mentors-mentees), and programming.
The program will include short courses; lightning talks paired with poster sessions; plenary panels; refereed presentations; and panel discussions focusing on cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and real-world deployment.
Through its partnership with the Journal of Data Science, the conference invites authors of refereed presentations to submit papers for a special issue. The 2024 edition has been published and the 2025 issue is in progress.
