As we conclude our fourth year of Practical Significance, we’re overflowing with gratitude and excitement! Our heartfelt thanks go to our dedicated listeners who’ve been with us throughout this journey. We are grateful for the many members of the ASA community who give their time and talent in support of our mission. Particularly, the members of our extraordinary ASA Board of Directors, whose vision and dedication have made 2024 a year of successes.
Listeners know we like tradition, so this episode continues a tradition of welcoming departing ASA Board members to the show. Nicholas Horton, Michelle Shardell, and Kendra Schmid join hosts Donna LaLonde and Ron Wasserstein to share some reflections on their board service. We hear about their most memorable moments, their tenure’s challenges and triumphs, and their unique perspectives on the profession’s future.
In a touching tribute, Donna and Ron also honor the legacy of former ASA president Dionne Price, whose passing in February 2024 left an indelible mark on our community. Her vision and leadership continue to inspire us all. View a special tribute to her on YouTube.
The episode concludes with Ron’s traditional top ten. This month, he offers the “Top Ten Ways Statisticians Can Make Themselves More Popular at Holiday Parties.” Join us for this special celebration of leadership, legacy, and lighthearted statistical humor!
