Faculty members at research universities typically take sabbaticals by working on a research project at their institution or spending time at another university. An option not always considered is to spend part of the sabbatical at an industrial or government organization. Such arrangements do exist and can be successful.

Workshop Rallies Statisticians for 13th Year
The 13th annual FDA/Industry Statistics workshop is scheduled for September 23–25 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC. More than 600 statisticians from academia, industry, and government will gather for lively talks about topics of interest to all. The workshop will feature a day of short courses followed by two days of plenary and concurrent presentations, as well as luncheon discussions on a variety of topics.
