Statistics and Quality: Riding the Big Data Wave at FTC
The 62nd Annual ASA/ASQ Fall Technical Conference (FTC) was held October 4–5 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The conference generated a great deal of interest, with the most contributed abstracts received for consideration in recent years and a large number of new participants.

The main SPES activities included the Joint Spring Research Conference and Quality and Productivity Conference, and the Fall Technical Conference. Also, the organizing committee is preparing for the 2019 Spring Research Conference.
Call for Papers: Fall Technical Conference
The 2017 Fall Technical Conference will be held at the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 5–6, 2017. The deadline for abstract submissions is February 28, 2017.

The American Society for Quality Statistics Division is accepting nominations for its 2016 William G. Hunter Award. Also, the department of biostatistics and school of public health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are requesting nominations for the 14th annual Janet L. Norwood Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Woman in the Statistical Sciences.
