On Privacy Day in January, the ASA Committee on Privacy and Confidentiality had two webinar presentations. The first was “People, Language, Large Language Models, and Privacy: A Technical Problem or a Fundamental Puzzle?” and the second was “From Dialogue to Data: How Statisticians Can Safeguard Privacy and Promote Trust in LLMs.” The committee hosts a Privacy Day webinar every year.
Upcoming Events
At JSM 2025, taking place August 2–7 in Nashville, Tennessee, there will be 22 sessions related to privacy and confidentiality, including an introductory overview lecture on data privacy and statistical science to be presented by Jerry Reiter and committee chair Claire Bowen. Other sessions prominently featuring privacy topics include the following:

- The Role of Professional Ethical Practice Standards in Ensuring Scientific Integrity of AI
