George Mason University’s annual high school poster competition took place April 26. The event, hosted by the GMU Department of Statistics and Washington Statistical Society, invited high school students to submit poster entries that explored the applications of statistics on a topic of their choice.
The first-place winner was Owen Luo’s poster, “Impact of NBA Top Draft Picks (1996–2015) and Evolution of No. 1 Selections (1996–2024).” The second and third places went to Ethan Gao’s “What Makes a Soccer Player Valuable?” and Callie Deng’s “New York City Restaurant Food Safety” posters, respectively.
