For the third year, the ASA’s Bay Area Chapter (SFASA) hosted its K–12 student summer project program, which brings together students to design projects under the mentorship of SFASA officers and volunteers.

This free meeting was conducted virtually and welcomed more than 140 researchers and trainees for a two-day event that addressed a variety of biostatistics and data science topics.

From March 7–9, members of the Detroit and Ann Arbor chapters reviewed projects at the Michigan Science & Engineering Fair for ASA awards meant to encourage the practice and profession of statistics.

The Arizona Chapter held its third DataFest competition and first with all three public universities in the state participating. The event served to bring members into activity from an otherwise dormant year.

The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (SFASA) hosted a three-hour virtual celebration December 4, 2020: A Positive Outlook During the COVID Era: How Statistics Could Contribute to a Better 2021. More than 70 SFASA members attended.

The New Jersey Chapter replaced its Spring Symposium with a series of six webinars, and more are planned for 2021.

The North Carolina Chapter webinar series, launched in 2019, continues this year and features topics on Bayesian statistics, data science, and machine learning.
